A French Summer Jaunt.

Last week, along with 27 others, i found myself amongst hollyhocks and sandy beaches and houses where all of the shudders are varying shades of sea foam green. Ile de Ré is full of bicycles and donkeys who wear striped trousers and picturesque marinas, and when visited with so many friends it begins to feel a bit unreal. There was the 4th of July barbecue complete with burgers and homemade brioche buns and cobbler and onion rings, days spent on the beach and nights spent drinking rosé and playing foosball. And then to top it all off i went to Paris afterwards and re-fell in love with the city and again found myself feeling like my surroundings looked a bit surreal. Maybe it's just France.

Summer Is Here...

Summer has arrived in London... i think (and i hope). Tonight sitting in the garden with a candle, two of my favorite people, some delicious dinner and a liter bottle of wine, it seemed like summer was here. It's just at that point where you try your hardest to stay outside until after sunset, trying with all your might to fight the cold that creeps in slowly. Baseball has begun, the barbeques have been dusted off and sometimes, just sometimes, it's warm enough to wear dresses without the winter staple of black tights. This said, in true London fashion, hours before, it had been the greyest day with hail coming out of no where. Summer, are you here or not?

So It Goes.

Today i moved out of the first apartment that was ever truly mine. A place full of only my things and one that only ever got messy if i made it that way. Where dish soap lasts a lot longer than when you share a place and where the fridge has just your food in it. It felt like a short but important chapter of my life. One that was necessary and tricky sometimes. An apartment where i had to wait around for the man to install internet, and where i had to pay con-ed bills, and make sure my rent was sent in on time. I guess this is the beginning of being a grown up. Now it's onto the next chapter: a chapter that's overseas and new. No part of me knows whether to be terrified or excited. Last year i decided keep calm and carry on was going to be my motto of senior year, then this summer someone close to me told me about how it was his life motto, i think it's a good one.
